Programme

Holistic perspective helps you make informed decisions, and influence your design.

At the Auro Design School you will learn to build holistic perspective. Holistic perspective helps you make informed decisions, and influence your design.

In parallel, you will develop a variety of skills by pursuing your areas of interest or enquiry, as well as by collaborating with your peers. Both methods have their own place. Pursuit of individual interests becomes the foundation of unique skills, allowing you to build your own design process and story. Working together and designing ecosystems will teach you to build consensus, allocate work, manage timelines and build amazing things with your peers.

Interdisciplinary Design Programme

An inter-disciplinary approach to design is the way of our times. Today, we are learning that the idea of technological progress and the idea of inter-disciplinary progress are inseparably intertwined; which is why we don't believe in artificial boundaries between specialisations. At Auro, you can learn the skills you need to build a better integrated ecosystem.

In order to aid communication and building of perspectives, the time spent at Auro Design School is divided into three stages.

The saying, "walk fast but alone, walk far and together" captures the essence of our methods very well. At Auro Design School, you will learn to do both.

First Stage

Immersion

Understanding Environment and building new skillsets

The first stage lasts the entire first year of the course. In the first stage, you will be completely immersed in design. This is the foundational period where you will learn basic skills that you will need for all areas of pursuit. At the same time, you will be shown and guided on how to observe and perceive the environment through all your senses. This is the first and most important step to identifying opportunities.

Second Stage

Expansion

Identifying design opportunities and Experimentation

The second stage takes place during the second, third and fourth years of the course. In the second stage, you will grow in an independently chosen direction, that will allow in-depth exploration in areas of your individual interest with topical specialisation. The second stage is also about understanding, interpretation, and balance. You will learn how to interpret your observations and draw out the true nature of opportunities, both in terms of scale and character. You will also learn how to balance these opportunities with the effects they will have on the environment. At the end, you will have grown perspectives that respect and nurture the environment.

Third Stage

Specialisation

Innovation and Specialisation

The third stage is all about expanding your perspective, and extends across the remaining two years of the course. In the third and final stage, you can either, further explore the area of inquiry from the second stage, or choose to follow other areas of interest. The last stage is also about interfacing and enhancing. At the end of this stage, you will understand how to positively impact the community and the environment you are designing for.

After completing the Bachelor of Design program, every student gets the option to pursue a topical specialisation for one year, resulting into a Post-graduate Diploma of Design or pursue for two years, resulting into a Master of Design. The three major streams with their respective specialisations are as follows:

Interior Space Design

with Topical Specialisation in

  • Furniture Design
  • Interior Products
  • Sustainable Interiors

Graphics & Communication Design

    Specialisation

As part of our Integrated M. Des. Programme, we offer three specialisation streams to students, offering them a specific set of skills to start their careers.

These specialisations act as a bridge between the learning offered by Auro Design School, and the open economy.
